Lecture: Colin Prior High Light at UCLAN.

Last night (Friday 18th November 2011) saw Preston Photographic Society hold a fantastic lecture with World renowned photographer Colin Prior.

The ticketed event was really well subscribed with a near sell out crowd who were treated to a very informative, entertaining and polished lecture by Colin.

Split into two halves with a short interval, Colin displayed some excellent images and provided some very interesting anecdotes along with commentary that had the audience transfixed.

After a short Q&A session where members asked a variety of questions, ranging from “who Colin thought were the “leading lights” in the landscape photography business” (apart from himself of course), through to the type of kit he uses and the state of the industry – particularly for newcomers, we had a raffle with some excellent prizes. These prizes included a signed copy of Colin’s latest book “High Light” and a couple of signed calendars.

PPS vice president and internal competition secretary Melvin Nicholson was the lucky winner of the signed book!

Overall it was an excellent evening with a great turn out, so thanks to not only those who helped organise the event, UCLAN for providing a great venue and also to all of those who attended.

We will add a few more images from the night in due course, but for now, here’s a BTS photo from the Q&A session.

Lecture: Deano’s Digital Dabblings

Last Thursday (10th November 2011) we had a great lecture by Graham Dean, entitled “Deano’s Digital Dabblings”.
It was a really interesting evening with Graham going through a number of his photos, explaining the thought processes behind them and giving a brief overview as to his edits.

It was interesting to see some of his early, pre-photoshop work, and the results that were possible.

It was a very enjoyable evening and our thanks go to Graham for coming along and providing us with a fun evening.
