ICPA Overview
PRESTON PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY
ICPA INTER - CLUB COMPETITIONS
The Inter-Club Photographic Alliance" (I.C.P.A) was founded in 1909, by a group of North West clubs with the idea that local clubs should group together to form an alliance and compete against one another in the interest of healthy competition. This was originally inaugurated with thirteen founder clubs and societies.
Today's clubs compete in two competitions annually, one of which is a digital knock-out, the other being three separate comps for colour prints, mono prints and PDIs
DIGITAL KO
Rules:
Process:
There are a number of rounds (circa 7) with images being eliminated at each stage.
Images eliminated in R1 score 2 points, R2 score 3 points etc., through to the last 3 images which score 8,9 or 10.
The winning club is the one with the most points from their 10 images. A tie (for 1st place only) would necessitate the use of the 11th image as a tie break.
Reports on recent competitions can be found on our website.
ANNUAL PRINT and PDI
Clubs may enter any or all of the three competitions
- The Toulmin Shield - A minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 monochrome prints.
- The Arthur Clayton Rosebowl - A minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 colour prints.
- The Frank Sellers Trophy - A minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 projected digital images.
In each competition the club result shall be the 4 highest marked images from 4 separate workers (scores are marked out of 20). In the event of a tie the number of 1st places will be taken into account. If a tie still pertains then the number of 2nd, 3rd places will be taken into account to give an overall winner.
