The 3 Way Battle

The 3 way battle is a purely local affair between Preston Photographic Society and two other local camera clubs. Chorley Photographic Society and Leyland Photographic Society, with the clubs taking it in turn to host the event.

3 Way Battle Overview

It’s a ‘derby’ with all the usual friendly rivalry typically associated with such events.

In recent years, Chorley have done well but the 2020 event was a really close affair which went down to the last image with Leyland claiming the victory with 415 points and only 3 points between all the clubs.

In 2021 Preston made the most of home advantage but in 2022 we had a tie between Preston and Chorley in a nail biting finish.

The competition continues to be a competitive but in recent years Chorley have run out as winners ahead of Preston 2nd and Leyland in 3rd.

There are no restrictions on genre, it’s an open competition so nature restrictions do not apply.

Usually there are two sections, prints and Projected Digital Images (PDI’s). Each club submitting 12 images in each section.

Images are scored out of 20 similar to our own internal competitions. However, rules are confirmed annually. In 2022, it was 20 images with no more than 4 images per photographer and due to Covid it was PDI's only and held via Zoom.
