Summary

The main LCPU Club Competition of the year was held at St. Mary’s Parish Rooms Chorley on March 4 (PDIs) and Elm Bank Conference Centre, Eccles on March 5 (Prints).

Format

• 2 pdi sections - Open (combined colour and mono) 16 images and Nature 8 images.
• 3 print sections - Colour, Mono and Nature (all 8 images).

Each section has to have images from at least 5 separate photographers, no more than 4 from each person in Open PDI and no more than 2 in the rest.

The judging was the normal scoring of 2 - 5 from each of 3 judges.

Preston Photographic Societies Images

• Images from 11 different members were entered in the PDI competitions.
  
• Images from 6 different members were entered in the Print competitions.

Results

Overall we finished 9th out of 36 clubs in PDI and 8th out of 20 in Print.

• Open PDI - 8th out of 36 clubs with 187 from 16 images.
• Nature PDI - 14th out of 34 clubs with 96 from 8 images.
• Colour Print - 13th out of 20 clubs with 91 from 8 images
• Mono Print - 4th out of 20 clubs with 97 from 8 images.
• Nature Print - 8th out of 20 clubs with 99 from 8 images.

Our top scoring images were:

15 points (maximum score)

• Shielding the ball by Mick Porter (Mono print)

14 points

• Jay and Woodpecker by Tim Gilbert (Nature print)

We also had 7 images scoring 13 points

• Beach huts by Jeannie Lazenby (Open Pdi)
• Passing storm by Jeannie Lazenby (Open Pdi)
• Red Kite by Robert Turley (Nature Pdi)
• Big Six by Tim Gilbert (Mono Print)
• Buzzard in Moorland Heather by Mick Porter (Nature Print)
• Seal-ed with a kiss by Mick Porter (Nature Print)
• Chaffinch feeding chick by Tim Gilbert (Nature Print)

Overall We were one of only 20 clubs that managed a full entry.

We finished 8th (Itbc) with 570 points, 21 behind 4th place but well behind the winners (Chorley).
