Summary

Leyland hosted the event at the RAFA Club on Wednesday 15 February 2023, the first meeting in person since COVID, and it was good to see 8 members from PPS there.
The judge was Nick Hilton, one of our top LCPU (and PAGB) judges who provided his usual well balanced commentary on the images submitted.

On this occasion, Chorley produced a superb set of images to comfortably take victory in both sections with ourselves in second place ahead of Leyland.

The Final Result

Winners Chorley with 358 points, second place PPS with 335 points and third place with 329 points Leyland.

Competition

An ’Open’ competition so Nature restrictions did not apply. There were two sections (Print and PDI) each Club having 10 images in each. No more than 3 images from any author (in each section) and all images cannot have been used before in a previous 3 way battle.

Each image could score up to 20 on merit but it’s with noting that, unlike our internal competitions, there are no restrictions on the top three having to be scored 20,19, and 18.

Preston Photographic Societies Images

All our PDI mages were selected by the Selection Committee from the images submitted by members to the October Selection bank.

Prints were selected from those held back at the Club for this purpose and effectively were from the first few monthly competitions.

Our PDI section included images from 10 different mambers, i.e. 1 per member.

Our Print section included images from 6 different members, with no more than 2 per member.

In the Print section we had:

• 1 image scoring 20
• 1 image scoring 19
• 2 images scoring 18
• 2 images scoring 17
• 4 images scoring 15.

In the PDI section we had:

• 2 images scoring 18
  
• 4 images scoring 17
  
• 2 images scoring 16
  
• 2 images scoring 15
