Summary

The main L&CPU Club Competition of the year was held at  Elm Bank Conference Centre, Eccles on April 2 (PDIs) and April 3 (Prints).

• 2 PDI sections - Open (combined colour and mono) 16 images and Nature 8 images.
  
• 3 print sections - Colour, Mono and Nature (all 8 images).

Each section has to have images from at least 5 separate photographers, no more than 4 from each person in Open PDI and no more than 2 in the rest.

The judging returned to the normal scoring of 2 - 5 from each of 3 judges. 

Preston Photographic Societies Images

• Images from 13 different members were entered in the PDI competitions. 
  
• ​Images from 10 different members were entered in the Print competitions.

Results

Overall we finished 7th out of 39 clubs in PDI and 8th out of 15 in Print.

• Open PDI - 7th out of 39 clubs with 199 from 16 images.
• Nature PDI - 8th out of 33 clubs with 101 from 8 images.
• ​Colour Print - 7th out of 15 clubs  with 100 from 8 images 
• Mono Print - 8th out of 15 clubs with 92 from 8 images. 
• Nature Print - 11th out of 14 clubs with 90 from 8 images.

Our top scoring images were:

15 points (maximum score)

• Freesyle Jet ski by Mick Porter (Open PDI)
• Common kestrel landing by Ian McGill (Nature PDI)
• Loch Ba by Tim Gilbert (Colour Print)
• The Pious Man by Paul Yates (Mono Print)

14 points

• First and second by Robert Turley (Open PDI)
• Tuuletar Goddess of Wind by Angela Kershaw (Open PDI)
• Squabbling chaffinches by Mick Porter (Nature PDI)
• Creating Dust by Iain Jack (Colour Print)

We also had 9 images scoring 13 points

• PDIs - Helen Hatch, Angela Kershaw, Paul Yates, Alf Myers, Tim Gilbert, Ian McGill, Mick Porter
• Prints - Graham Mills and Iain Jack

Overall an improvement again on previous years and we were one of only 15 clubs who managed a full entry.
